Most people in our society have this concept in their minds that students of madrassa are only interested in Islamic education and they do not have any particular desire to learn about other kinds of education.
They often fail to keep up their mainstream counterparts in conventional education, much fewer STEM subjects. However, a team of scholars from Jamia Bait-ul-Salam in Talagang has defined these stereotypes differently by qualifying for the ultimate round of Turkey’s biggest tech competition, TEKNOFEST.
The team named Blatu, not only made it to the finals but also topped their category of Technology for Humanity-Social Innovation, securing a solid 87 out of the 100 points on offer.
The TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival is an annual event organized by the Turkish Ministry of Industry and the Turkish Technology Team(T3) Foundation to encourage and support innovation within the country. Teams from the whole of the globe participate in the competition and represent their countries while competing to convert 3 million TL worth of awards. The competition includes competitions just like the Robotaxi Full Scale Autonomous Vehicle Competition, Flying Car Design Competition, and World Drone Cup.
The event caters to all or any age groups from school teams all the high to college graduates. The finals of this year’s event will happen from the 22nd to the 27th of September within the city of Gaziantep. Students from Jamia Bait-ul-Salam have previously shown their intellectual skills and expertise in national competitions.
In 2019, a team from the madrassa won the Robofiesta robotics competition which was held at HITEC University Taxila. So as to realize this feat, they’d to defeat teams from over 20 universities across Pakistan.
The Jamia also took home from the Urdu speech competition and spelldown at the exact event, further proving the standard of education and holistic learning experience offered at the madrassa.
